\"\"The Gender and Education Office<\/strong> of ICAE has been a strong pillar of ICAE for years. Three important feminist networks took part in its foundation and gave a global strength and a very broad and diverse feminist vision:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Network of Popular Education among Women of Latin America and the Caribbean (REPEM), <\/a>
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 African Women\u2019s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) <\/a>
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 DAWN-Southeast Asia <\/a><\/p>\n

GEO\u00b4s mission is to mainstream gender in the Adult Education sector, to ensure that women are granted the right to lifelong learning and to participation as active citizens.<\/p>\n

This mission is reflected in the following objectives:<\/strong>
\n(i)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To monitor and follow up international agreements on gender, education and lifelong learning;
\n(ii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To mainstream gender in different global and regional spaces such as the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE), UNESCO, World Social Forum, World Education Forum, UN Conferences, Global Campaigns for Education and UN Literacy Decade;
\n(iii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To implement a comprehensive and systematic approach to education for inclusion from a gender perspective and promote connections among the agendas;
\n(iv)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To secure the right to education in women and feminist movements activities and in the different scenarios of global governance;
\n(v)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To support GEO members around the world to achieve the above mentioned goals though an ICT and communications strategy.<\/p>\n

Some GEO recent activities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

GEO<\/strong> provides spaces to think strategically from a gender and education perspective: GEO Consultation in Marrakech<\/strong>, 2012; GEO Consultation in Malmo<\/strong>, 2011.<\/p>\n

GEO<\/strong> strongly promotes learning opportunities to grassroots women so as to strengthen their advocacy capacities to realize their right to education. In this sense, in 2011 and 2012 GEO implemented the women\u2019s rights training course:\u00a0“Adding Knowledge”<\/a><\/strong> funded by UN Women Uruguay.<\/p>\n

GEO<\/strong> actively contributes to the setting process of the post 2015 Development Agenda:<\/p>\n
