ICAE\u00a0participated in the KSSLE-NILE International Seminar on “Lifelong Learning: A way forward People, Community and Social Empowerment”<\/strong> on\u00a026 October 2018 in Busan Metropolitan City, Republic of Korea.<\/p>\n

The 6th <\/sup>Lifelong Learning Expo took place in October 2018 in Busan, the Republic of Korea and brought together lifelong learners and practitioners from the lifelong learning institutions given the opportunity to share their experiences and learning outcomes with the public. In order to celebrate the event, the Korean Society for the Study of Lifelong Education (KSSLE) and the National Institute for Lifelong Education (NILE) organized an international seminar titled \u201cLifelong Learning: A way forward People, Community and Social Empowerment\u201d.<\/p>\n

The seminar participants discussed how lifelong learning can empower the individuals as society members, communities, and the societies they belong . Guests from academia and NGOs from Asia including Korea, the global level and Germany shared experiences and examples how lifelong learning affect empowerment on a variety of levels. From this, implications of \u00a0lifelong learning on citizenship, co-existing societies and realization of peace were looked at.\u00a0<\/span>ICAE contributed with an input on the topic of “Empowering citizens through lifelong learning: The role of lifelong learning in cultivating humanity and global citizenship”<\/span><\/p>\n

The international seminar had the aim to highlight the growing attention to the importance of lifelong learning as a key of empowering people, communities and society, and explore the relationship between lifelong learning and empowerment.<\/p>\n

The objectives were to :<\/strong><\/p>\n

(1)Share pioneering experiences and various cases regarding the role of lifelong learning for people, community and social empowerment<\/p>\n

(2)Raise awareness about obstacles and opportunities for enhancing the quality of lifelong learning for people, community and social empowerment<\/p>\n

(3)Discuss strategies and implications to generate outcomes and impacts of lifelong learning, such as people, community and social empowerment<\/p>\n
