In cooperation with the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) and many other partners, the World Committee for Lifelong Learning hosted the 7th World Forum for Lifelong Learning from 7 to 9 March 2023 at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in Alexandria. Under the theme \u2018Health education for all, today and tomorrow\u2019<\/strong>, the forum brought together a wide range of representatives from government, civil society and academia.<\/p>

It was discussed how lifelong learning contributes to tackling global challenges and considered new ways of ensuring that quality learning opportunities contribute to health for citizens across the globe. Conference discussions were captured in a declaration adopted at the end of the Forum.<\/p>

ICAE Secretary General, Katarina Popovic, gave one of the opening speeches focusing on how COVID-19 highlights the importance of lifelong learning for health and well-being.<\/strong><\/p>

COVID-19 has brought health and lifelong learning (LLL) to the forefront, and it is important to focus on broader issues like human-environment relationships and international relationships, in addition to basic measures like hand-washing and mask-wearing. Digital health literacy and mental health and well-being are two new subsectors of health education that LLL can address, and LLL can also promote health equity, provide resources for vulnerable populations, and address systemic inequities to achieve sustainable health and well-being for all. A combination of literacy, civic education, and other fields is necessary to tackle these issues.<\/em><\/p>
