At the AAACE conference there was an excellent pre conference for the Commission on International Education which is a unit of AAACE. There was a broad discussion&nbsp;of international initiatives as well as exploration of various options for further international work. Several individuals active with ICAE were in attendance&nbsp;including Christy Rhodes, Linda Morris, Marcie Boucouvalas and Peter Waite.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p><p>In addition to the Commission meeting at AAACE Peter Waite the North American Representative for ICAE was part of a panel on the Changing Trajectory for Adult Education. The panel addressed a number of important issues and Peter addressed the importance of ICAE and the international initiatives from both the Sustainable Development Goals and the Marrakesh Framework from Confintea VII.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p><p>Several US adult education representatives and researchers will also be in attendance&nbsp;at the upcoming Adult Education Hall of Fame conference in Florence in November. We are hopeful that this will generate some additional cross organizational projects. In addition there is discussion concerning a possible meeting of our North American members to discuss common issues and concerns. Several of the member organizations are exploring organizing such an event.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p><p>Lastly, the outcome of the recent US Presidential and Congressional elections will present the adult education field in the US with additional challenges for attention and support.&nbsp; &nbsp; The incoming administration has indicated some significant changes in policy and funding that may make it a more difficult funding and program environment for adult education programs in the US and limit additional support internationally.&nbsp;<\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/731aeaa034be063208d9bb5a6\/images\/24ae54d7-e8dc-523f-7a29-75f18b7e15aa.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"350\"><br>AAACE conference panel (from left to right): Tricia Berry (AAACE President), Peter Waite (ICAE Vice President), Randy Bowman and Helena Worthen.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently one of two of our US based members held their annual conferences ProLiteracy and AAACE.
