High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2022

The High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2022 will be held from Tuesday, 5 July, to Thursday, 7 July, and from Monday, 11 July, to Friday, 15 July 2022, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. This includes the three-day ministerial segment of the forum from Wednesday, 13 July, to Friday, 15 July 2022, as a part of the high-level segment of the Council. The theme for the HLPF 2022 will be “Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”.

SDG4 on Quality Education is under review this year!, with SDG5 on Gender Equality, SDG14 on Life below Water, SDG15 on Life on Land, and SDG17 on Partnerships for the Goals.

Format: The 2022 HLPF will convene in person this year. All official sessions of the 2022 HLPF will be available to watch via UN Web TV.

Voluntary National Reviews
As part of its follow-up and review mechanisms, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development encourages member states to “conduct regular and inclusive reviews of progress at the national and sub-national levels, which are country-led and country-driven”. These national reviews are expected to serve as a basis for the regular reviews by the high-level political forum (HLPF), meeting under the auspices of ECOSOC. Regular reviews by the HLPF are to be voluntary, state-led, undertaken by both developed and developing countries, and involve multiple stakeholders, including GCE National Education Coalitions, which might have the chance to participate in the review session as part of the EASG.

VNR Labs

The traditional series of VNR labs will be convened on the margins of the 2022 HLPF, to provide an informal platform for experience sharing and reflection on the Voluntary National Review process. As always, the Labs will be held under the Chatham House rule and will be open to Member States, the UN system and representatives of Major Groups and other Stakeholders. Stakeholder Perspective – Official Thematic Session

The MGoS Official Session is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 12 July 2022 from 9:00 to 11:00 ET (New York time). It is titled: Vision of civil society: Leaving no one behind in recovering better: How can we identify those left behind and how can we provide social protection and other measures to contribute to more equal societies and build resilience?
