ICAE together with ASPBAE and the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) are co-organizing a Side Event with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia during the SDG Action Weekend, in the framwork of the SDG Summit, taking place on 18-19 September 2023 in New York.

This side event focuses on global sustainable development through social protection and jobs, education transformation, digitalization and public sector capabilities. It aims to enhance human resources for SDGs like SDG 4 and 8 and strengthen sustainable development amidst economic shifts. It will also showcase good practices and discuss efforts led by governments together with other partners and stakeholders, including CSOs, to close the skills gaps, promote inclusion and ensure a diverse and adaptable workforce.
President of ICAE, Jose Roberto Guevara, will be part of the panel that will discuss and highlight skilling practices that alleviate unemployment and enhance social protection.
About the SDG Action Week
To maximize the SDG Summit’s impact, the Secretary General is convening an SDG Action Weekend, which will generate opportunities for stakeholders, UN entities, and Member States to convene inside the United Nations Headquarters and set out specific commitments and contributions to drive SDG transformation between now and 2030.
The SDG Action Weekend will consist of the SDG Mobilization Day on Saturday, 16 September, and the SDG Acceleration Day on Sunday, 17 September at UNHQ in New York.
About the SDG Summit
The 2023 SDG Summit will take place on 18-19 September 2023 in New York. It will mark the beginning of a new phase of accelerated progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals with high-level political guidance on transformative and accelerated actions leading up to 2030.
Convened by the President of the General Assembly, the Summit will mark the half-way point to the deadline set for achieving the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. It will be the centerpiece of the High-level Week of the General Assembly. It will respond to the impact of multiple and interlocking crises facing the world and is expected to reignite a sense of hope, optimism, and enthusiasm for the 2030 Agenda.
